Tour of Veenendaal and Heuvelrug

After an overnight stay at Camping't Einde, this route takes you through the forests and over the heathland of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. This bike ride also takes you to the always pleasant centre of Veenendaal and through the Amerongen forest. It exudes an atmosphere of old estates, thanks to the long lanes. The Amerongen forest is located on a 69-metre-high mountain and is one of the oldest pieces of forest in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. On the edge of Veenendaal lies the Prattenburg country estate. The estate is over 430 hectares in size and consists largely of forest. On the estate is a house with a castle-like appearance, built in 1887. The estate was first mentioned in a document from 1474, when it was still just a farm.
