Wassenaarse Slag Tour from Katwijk

The walk starts with a cup of coffee at Madame Rose. You first follow the boulevard to the south - what a place! From here you walk to the Wassenaarse Slag through Berkheide, a nature reserve consisting of small valleys and parabolic dunes. In some places there are bushes and shrubs. Striking are the many dune roses that bloom in the spring. And the former agricultural fields where dune pipits were grown. You will also come across many remains from the Second World War here. Not surprising, the Atlantic Wall ran through this area. Some old bunkers now serve as a wintering place for bats. Katwijk is home to a wealth of monuments and attractions, such as old churches, the Spinoza House and of course the dune landscape. You will also walk through the wooded dune area of the Pan van Persijn.
