Smugglers' route Mark and Strijbeekse heide

After a cup of coffee on the large terrace of Het Smokkelaartje eating & drinking (or cozy by the fireplace!), Put on your walking shoes. The name of your starting point was not chosen by chance: the border used to be a lucrative trade for smugglers here. For years smugglers from Belgium and the Netherlands were active in the surrounding forests. With all that rugged nature here, they could often go about their business unseen. Today you take a nice walk on the Strijbeekse Heide, along the fens Rondven and Langven. Here you will find a beautiful mix of fragrant conifers, fens and heather. You also pass through the beautiful Markdal. Since 2004, the Mark meanders here again. You walk right along reeds and flowery grasslands while you look out over the rippling water.
