Cycling route Wijk bij Duurstede

Wijk bij Duurstede is a beautiful old town at the intersection of the Nederrijn and the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. In the surrounding polders you can enjoy a wide river landscape. At De Veldpoort Eten en Drinken you can enjoy the cozy terrace, before you get on your bike. You first cycle through the Kromme Rijnstreek. From a distance you see the wooded Utrechtse Heuvelrug coming closer. You cycle a bit through Leersum, the next stop is the beautiful Kasteel Amerongen. More castles were built along the Lek in the past. Only the moat of Kasteel Bergestein is partly still visible in the landscape. Kasteel Natewisch dates from the thirteenth century. Don't worry, finally you pass Kasteel Duurstede and cycle through the picturesque heart of Wijk bij Duurstede.
