Cycling around Berlicum, Vorstenbosch and Nistelrode

Small heathlands, beautiful forests and grassy meadows. The Brabant landscape around Berlicum, Vorstenbosch and Nistelrode - west of Den Bosch - has a lot to offer. A wonderful area to cycle through!

De Wamberg estate
This cycling route starts at Eetcafe De Prins in Berlicum, on the edge of the De Wamberg estate. The Wamberg is a wooded estate and there is plenty to see. At Eetcafe De Prins you start your bike ride with a delicious cup of coffee with a platter of tasty sweets. Even after your return, you can go to the attractive restaurant for a good cup of coffee, lunch or a tasty snack.

Castle Route
At the beginning of the route you pass a castle of which not much is left. The only part of the historic Assendelft Berlicum fortress that is still well preserved is the gate. The castle itself has completely disappeared. The site is now used as arable and grassland. A little later you will pass Heeswijk Castle, a former moated castle from the eleventh century. The cellars and a few walls date from the end of the 14th or the beginning of the 15th century. After restoration, the castle has been converted into a museum that you can visit.

Brabant nature
Beyond Nistelrode you will find the De Maashorst nature reserve. An area full of forests, heathland, drifting dunes, stream valleys and fields. An area where nature has a say. The Meuse once flowed here, but due to a fracture in the earth's crust, the earth continued to rise. This caused the land to rise higher and higher. Cycling through De Maashorst gives you an ultimate feeling of freedom! You end back at Eetcafe De Prins in Berlicum.
