Your cycle route starts at Landgoed Schovenhorst, which was founded in 1848. From the beginning, this estate has been experimenting with various tree species, so that you can admire some special monumental specimens. You can also buy a ticket for the Bostoren here. This tower offers you a beautiful view of the area. This Exciting History route introduces you to the eventful past of the northern Veluwerand. Until the construction of the Zuiderzeestraatweg in the 19th century, the transition area from wet to dry soils was difficult to reach by land. Countless generations fought here against the erratic Zuiderzee.

Landgoed Schovenhorst is located on the eastern edge of Putten. This huge estate was intended as a tree laboratory. Founder JH Schober had tree seeds come from all parts of the world to investigate whether they could grow in the Veluwe. Fourteen Bronze Age burial mounds have also been found on the estate.

The Stoomgemaal Arkemheen, previously known as Stoomgemaal Hertog Reijnout, is a striking appearance in the Arkemheen polder near Nijkerk. As one of the oldest pumping stations in the Netherlands, the water pumps to a higher area, in this case the Zuiderzee.
