Your route starts at TOP Driland, just across the border in Germany. Go for a swim or rent a rowing boat to explore the nearby sandy lake. This route leads you through the border region near Losser and past Oldenzaal. Oldenzaal is adorned by a park-like landscape where hills give the landscape an extra dimension. The Tankenberg is part of the Oldenzaal moraine and is located 85 meters above NAP: the highest point of the province of Overijssel. You can cycle across the border here and back - centuries ago people here did no different. The Tödden, hannekemowers or kiepenkearls used to trade on the Handelsweg between the German Bad Bentheim, Losser and Oldenzaal. With heavy baskets they walked hundreds of kilometers along the Handelsweg, looking for earnings.
