Between de Haan and Bruges

Bruges is the capital and largest city of West Flanders, but the attractive city still feels small-scale. Cute houses, historic streets and lovely squares create an authentic atmosphere. It is rare in Europe that this medieval city center is included in its entirety on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Canals have connected the city to the sea for centuries and have brought it much prosperity. Wherever you go in Bruges, you will be enchanted by the veins of the city again and again. Bruges is an important economic center. It is striking that most employment is not offered in the tourist center, but that many people work in the port. This port is well connected to the rest of the world; it is centrally located in relation to other North Sea ports and has good connections to all countries in continental Europe. Due to a large draft in the access channel and along the quays, many types of industrial ships can reach the port.
