The field margins project is a joint activity of the Biotope Improvement Foundation"Zuid-Veluwe\\\", the local farmers and Staatsbosbeheer with financial support from the municipality of Renkum.
Field margins are sown with a flower seed mixture for the benefit of bees, butterflies, birds and other animals. The bees and butterflies feast on the nectar and pollen, the birds on the seeds and other animals find shelter there.
Flower seed mixtures used for these purposes include lupine, sunflower, cornflower, yellow mustard and ancient cultivated crops such as buckwheat, leaf radish and aniseed. In total, approximately 10 km of field margins have been sown in the municipality of Renkum.
The route described here takes you past some of the most beautiful field edges of this unique project in Oosterbeek, as well as various other natural history attractions.
Start and end point is the station in Oosterbeek, but you can of course start anywhere on the route.
