The real Eleven Cities feeling is still missing at the start at hotel de Wijnberg in Bolsward. Although it is nice and fresh and there are signs with the inscription'Elfstedentocht\\\' hanging above the canals in Boalsert, but with a full ebike even the headwind is overcome with a smile. Unlike the skating tour, which is mainly associated with 'suffering', the e-bike route Half Cities Tour is an adventure for bon vivants. Anyone who wants to 'taste' its famous winter brother can go to Sneek, the first stop from Bolsward. For example, in the Ice Hall of the Fries Scheepvaart Museum, where old Eleven Cities tours are revived. After leaving the Sneeker Waterpoort it is time to continue pedaling seriously towards IJlst. The e-bike still has a full battery - the maximum five bars can be seen on the display - but just before IJlst this becomes four. How many kilometers can such an electric bicycle with pedal assistance actually handle? Well, that remains the question for a while, but meandering along dikes, polders, mills and beautiful homes of farmers who apparently have done well, that will be a matter for later. And that does not change in the breathtaking lake area of South-West Friesland, with Oudega, Gaastmeer, Koudum and Hemelum as benchmarks. Only around Stavoren, the southernmost point of the route, do you realize that the battery will probably not be able to withstand 89 km in a day. Because the e-biker has to eat a lot of farmer's omelettes or bear burgers to get his vehicle fully charged again: charging just takes a long time. Don't panic, because after Stavoren and the kilometers long IJsselmeerdijk with a lot of lamb stuff - a lot of whining about nothing. because the view is splendid - awaits Hindeloopen. For the hardcore skating enthusiast, the First Frisian Skating Museum is a mandatory stop. The true mile-eaters will soon leave the picturesque Hindeloopen behind on the way to Workum, where it turns out that flower bulb fields are not an exclusive affair for the Bulb Region. Then the south wind blows the e-biker almost automatically towards Bolsward. Almost, because about 10 kilometers from the end point the battery suddenly stops providing support. He apparently thinks it was a nice experience after about 80 kilometers of loyal service. Fortunately, the e-bike appears to make quite good progress even without pedal assistance. Moreover, it has something to offer: still a bit of a challenge on the (H) Eleven Cities Route.

The Eerste Friese Schaatsmuseum is located in a characteristic building, in picturesque Hindeloopen. Started small in 1983, it can now call itself the largest museum in the field of ice skating. The Ice Skating Museum not only has the largest collection of skates and sledges in the world, but also the complete history of the Elfstedentocht can be experienced here. In Friesland, the mecca of skating, you can bring back all memories. You will also discover that ice skating has an age-old history, which is worth preserving for posterity.
