Description

You will soon cycle through the lovely Zoutelande, one of the most popular seaside resorts in Walcheren. Immediately behind the beach and the dunes there are terraces, shops, pubs and restaurants. A beautiful cycle path just behind the dunes and straight through the greenery takes you to Dishoek. Dishoek was once founded as a lookout post for Vlissingen and was originally called Dijckshoek. The village was given this name because it was located near a sea dike. The remains of this dike can still be seen at low tide. You drive to Middelburg via Koudekerke. The capital was founded in the ninth century, when the Vikings entered Europe. To protect the island of Walcheren against invaders, a ring rampart was built here. A beautiful rural route leads to the equally historic Veere.
