The Drowned Land of Saeftinghe

This route takes you from Hulst through the vastness of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Along the way you cycle past the special nature reserve Het Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe. Many breeding and migratory birds live in the eastern part. It is also a nursery for fish, shrimps and crabs. Before you admire this area, you cycle through the cozy Kloosterzande. Molen Groenendijk is located in this typical Zeeland village. The post mill was built around 1690 and is still regularly put into operation by a volunteer. The next stop is the Saeftinghe Visitor Center. Here you will learn everything about the nature reserve of the same name, which once formed a domain of four villages. After about fifty kilometers you arrive back at your starting point!
