Cycling route: 144431
Provided by: route.nl
This cycling tour takes you from Taste Churchill along a wide polder landscape and the banks of the Western Scheldt. First you cycle a bit through Terneuzen, a town that first appears in the archives in 1325. Art lovers can go to De Scheldeboulevard, where numerous statues are set up in the summer season. The Western Scheldt forms the mouth of the Scheldt. The Western Scheldt is therefore not closed off as part of the Delta Works, in order to keep the port of Antwerp accessible. Along the water lies a system of channels and sandbanks where large numbers of birds live. Your tour also takes you along the Vogelkreek, one of the oldest creeks in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Finally, you cycle along the Otheense Kreek, which takes its name from the former village of Othene.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
