The Ooijpolder is a paradise for nature lovers. Hundreds of species of birds live there and you will encounter 500 wild plant species. Today you will also explore the border area between the Netherlands and Germany. Be sure to also take a look at the National Liberation Museum 1944-1945, where you will learn everything about the war history of this area. Groesbeek was the setting for the parachute landings for Operation Market Garden on 17 September 1944. It was on the front line until 8 February, which meant that the village had to endure serious destruction. The hills and valleys of Groesbeek are beautiful. They were formed around 200,000 years ago during the penultimate ice age, the Saalien, when the glacial ice came to a standstill here.
