Description

Your route starts at Camping De Waay. This cycle route brings back memories of Operation Market Garden that took place at the end of 1944 during the Second World War in the region between Arnhem and Nijmegen. The result was an evacuation of the entire population: a veritable exodus via the dikes and across the Rhine to the north. The Linge roughly formed the front line here. The tour also goes through Park Lingezegen, a vast area that is designed for recreational activities such as cycling, walking and horse riding. There was hard fighting in that area, the listening boulder near the Lady Chapel on the hill tells the story. A nice point to rest. You also pass Doornenburg, where you can see Fort Pannerden in the distance and you can stroll through the floodplains.
