This cycle route starts at Camping Kaasboerderij Johanna Hoeve. You soon cycle past Landhuis De Klinze, a Frisian stins that originally dates from the sixteenth century. Five states once stood in Oenkerk. Of these, there are still two left, one of which you can see a little further on: the Stania State. Then you cycle along the Wadden Sea, with the salty sea air in your lungs and the wind blowing through your hair. You exchange the hustle and bustle of everyday life for the tranquility of the nature reserve, listening to the surf in the background. When you head more inland, beautiful polders stretch out in front of you. A typical Dutch landscape stretches out in front of you here; an ingenious piece of water management of which there are about 4000 in the Netherlands.

Stania State

Jeppe of Stania founded the original house in the 16th century. In 1738 a new house was built by Hans Hendrik van Haersma, which largely burned down in 1813. The current house was built in 1854 and in 1934 it became a courtyard of the Fries Museum. An extension was built for this. A consultancy has been established there since 1978. The formal garden was transformed into landscape style in 1821, including ponds, a playground in the front and back garden. The estate is freely accessible.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
