Amerongen Forest Castle Route

Your route starts at Bike Totaal Van Wijk Fietsen. Nearby you will immediately discover the Gran Canal Kasteel Renswoude, a water area in the garden of Kasteel Renswoude. The castle dates from 1350. The Grebbelinie visitor centre is located in the Fort aan de Buursteeg, one of the largest forts on the Grebbelinie. Then you cycle into the Amerongse Bos, one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is a short climb, but you get something in return. Large beech trees grow on the stately avenues, a beautiful sight. Some pines date from the eighteenth century! Kasteel Amerongen has a history that goes back to 1286. Here you can learn more about Wilhelm II, the former German emperor. Landgoed Zuylestein dates from the fifteenth century.
