Amerongse Bos Castle Route

Your route starts at Bike Totaal Van Wijk Fietsen. Nearby you will immediately discover the Gran Canal Renswoude Castle, a water area in the garden of Renswoude Castle. The castle dates from 1350. The Grebbelinie visitor center is located in the Fort aan de Buursteeg, one of the largest forts on the Grebbelinie. Then you drive into the Amerongse Bos, one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It's a bit of a climb, but you get something in return. Large beech trees grow on the stately avenues, a beautiful sight. Some pines date back to the eighteenth century! Amerongen Castle has a history dating back to 1286. Here you can learn more about Wilhelm II, the former German emperor. The Zuylestein estate dates from the fifteenth century.
