Discover the hinterland of Blankenberge

Explore the Belgian hinterland of Blankenberge, a town just below the Dutch border. Blankenberge is one of the most important seaside resorts in West Flanders. The coast attracts thousands of tourists every year, but it is also fun to explore inland and find your way in the direction of Bruges.

This route is not very long, but if you are an avid cyclist you can make the trip a little longer by cycling further to Bruges. Is that too much of a good thing for you? Even then, this route is absolutely worth it. For example, the Ter Doest Abbey in Lissewege is definitely worth a visit. The imposing abbey barn dates from the fourteenth century. The pigeon tower from 1651 and the monumental gatehouse in particular have withstood the test of time and still look beautiful.
