Cycling through the Kampina and the Dommeldal

First you drive to the village of Lennisheuvel, here you will see a few Brabant long-façade farms. Further on you will come through De Kampina, a varied nature reserve of forest, heathland and stream valleys. In August the heather starts to bloom here. There are regular benches at the fens to enjoy the view. Just before Spoordonk you will pass the Spoordonkse Watermolen from 1868. This is located on the Beerze, a beautiful spot. In the middle of the forest you will find the Chapel of the Holy Oak. In 1406 two shepherds are said to have found a statue of Mary in the stream De Beerze and placed it in an oak tree. Slot Den Hulst is a tall white plastered house located at the end of a long driveway. On the way, stop off at Boutique Hotel Bed&Bos!
