Provided by: Groots Genieten
The route starts at the Venbergse Molen. This watermill is located on the Dommel River and has a history dating back to the thirteenth century. You then cycle through several contiguous nature reserves: the Leenderbos, the Valkenhorst Estate, and the Groote Heide. Here, you cycle through fragrant coniferous forests and dry and wet heathlands. Through the forests surrounding Aalst, you reach Waalre. At the market square, you'll see several beautiful nineteenth-century buildings. Just outside the village, cross the Dommel River and see the Volmolen (Volmolen). Further on stands the Stevertse Molen, which dates from 1400. At 't Hof in Bergeijk, you can catch a glimpse of the fifteenth-century Sint-Petrus Bandenkerk (St. Peter's Church). The tower collapsed in 1650 and was never rebuilt.
