Your route starts at Museum De Roode Tooren. This versatile ride leads from Doesburg to Doetinchem along the banks of the Oude IJssel. The route starts at the regional museum Museum de Roode Tooren, in the historic fortified town of Doesburg. In the beautiful old Laag-Keppel you will pass Watermill Laag-Keppel, which was built as a flour mill in the 19th century. The oldest mention of Doetinchem dates from 838. The fortified city of Deutinkem was then provided with city walls and city gates. You cycle back along the edge of the Kruisbergse woods, a forest area with river dunes and fens. The height differences are striking, caused by river dunes that were formed here by the wind about 10,000 years ago from previously deposited river sand. The highest point is 30 meters above sea level.
