The Veluwe, the floodplains along the Rhine, the Gelderse Valley: this route has a lot to offer. Get on your bike for a day of enjoying Gelderland.
Planks doublet
Enjoy a coffee and something tasty on the terrace of Berkenrhode Recreation Park before you get on your bike. You first drive into the Roekelse Bos. In the middle of this nature reserve you will pass the Mosselse Veld: an open area of grass and heath at the foot of the Valenberg. You then drive through the adjacent Planken Wambuis, one of the most famous forest areas of the Veluwe. How beautiful and quiet it is here!
Gelderland Valley
You descend gradually to Renkum and the Rhine. It is nice to travel for miles along the pristine floodplains. You can also enjoy the vast landscape in the Gelderse Vallei. You will pass Hoekelum Castle, which originally dates from the fourteenth century. The current building dates from 1735. In Ede you can make a refreshing pit stop on the cozy terrace of Bernardo\\\'s IJssalon. You drive back through the woods to the starting point. What a beautiful day!
