You can take a long bike ride through the woods and heathland in the Veluwe. In villages such as Elspeet and Vaassen it is wonderful to get off to enjoy the cosiness and the special monuments.

Crown Domain  

Cycling between the trees you quickly leave the daily routine behind you. Hoog-Soeren enjoys a protected village view because of its authentic historical appearance, what a nice village! Then you drive into the vast forests and heaths of the Crown Domain. This area was formerly used for hunting and forestry. Here you will experience an unprecedented silence for Dutch standards!

Hidden village
You can enjoy beautiful views on the rolling Elspeetse Heide. Stop at Museum Het Verscholen Dorp to learn more about the poignant history of people in hiding. The Kopermolen is a beautiful eighteenth-century watermill. In Vaassen you pass the sixteenth-century Kasteel de Cannenburgh. Further on it's time for a refreshing break at the cozy IJssalon Rozeboom.

The hidden village was a hideout in the woods for people in hiding during World War II. Three huts have been recreated in the woods and you can learn a lot about the history.

De Kopermolen

In the past, copper plates were made in the Kopermolen for covering hulls and coin plates from which money was beaten. Furthermore, the mill served as a papermaking and as a flour mill.

De Cannenburgh

This castle was built in the sixteenth century by order of Marshal Maarten van Rossum. The castle is built on the foundation of an earlier castle and it is located in a beautiful old park forest.

De Cannenburger Molen

In 1387 there was already a mill on this spot. However, the mill was rebuilt in stone in 1942 after a fire. The rights of the mill belong to De Cannenburgh Castle.
