Strolling through Leuven
The starting point of this route is in Rotselaar. From here you set course for Holsbeek, Leuven and Heverlee. Take a moment to look around Leuven and stroll through ancient streets full of history and beautiful buildings. You should also really take a look at the beguinage, part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Arenberg castle
Just outside Leuven you cycle through the Arenbergpark with the castle of Arenberg and the windmill of Arenberg. In the fourteenth century, a castle was built on this spot by the lords of Heverlee. In the sixteenth century, a new castle was built in Renaissance style, which formed the basis for the castle you see here today. In the nineteenth century the castle was rebuilt into the current castle. In 1916, the Duke of Arenberg donated the castle and the surrounding buildings to the University of Leuven. You then cycle back to the starting point of the route via Herent and Rotselaar.

Park Abbey
Park Abbey is located just outside Leuven. This Norbertine abbey has about 42 hectares and it is one of the best preserved abbeys in Belgium. The church of the abbey now serves as the parish church of Vlierbeek. Other buildings of the old abbey have been converted into residences. The nature around the abbey consists of open farmlands, lanes, ponds and meadows that are perfect for a walk.
