You drive past beautiful nature reserves that are surrounded by capital villas and country estates. Take, for example, the Leyduin country estate, once used by prominent families as a summer residence, and Landgoed Elswout, one of the most beautiful estates in the Netherlands. The route also passes Visitor Center De Oranjekom, located in a restored pumping station. The route leads you through the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen, an area of 3400 hectares through which fifty million cubic meters of drinking water flows annually. There is a good chance that you will come face to face with a fallow deer. The area has the largest fallow deer population in the Netherlands per hectare; that amounts to about 2000 fallow deer in total! You drive past colorful bulb fields via Noordwijkerhout back to your starting point.
