With this route you will discover the beautiful Betuwe on the basis of a large number of seating arrows. The starting point of your route is a TOP location in Opheusden on the southern bank of the Rhine. Just before the village of Echteld you will see another beautiful spot: Kasteel Wijenburg. And of course the Betuwe itself also has a lot to offer. In short: the Betuwe is known as a fruit area and is worth a visit all year round, whether you come for the blossom in spring or at harvest time, when you will find roadside stalls with freshly picked fruit. The fruit garden of the Netherlands! During your trip you will pass Restaurant Broer & Ko, where you can enjoy a well-deserved snack and drink to recharge for the last part of the route.

Broer&Ko is a centrally located restaurant where real cooking is still done, with a friendly atmosphere and delicious dishes for a fair price. Much care has been taken to find local suppliers where the owner is still at the helm, because that suits this rural environment. You can easily get there from the highway and yet you immediately dive into the tranquility here. Take a nice bike ride from here along the Lingemeer or the floodplains of the Rhine and Waal!

De Markplas is a family campsite with tourist pitches for tents and caravans, seasonal pitches and pitches for mobile homes. The park has a beautiful natural water, in which you can swim, sail, fish and a beautiful environment to go cycling! Due to the playful design and the many plants and good maintenance, the site has a park-like appearance, in which water is central. In the park there are still beautiful old fruit trees, which are beautifully full of blossom in the spring.

Wijenburg


4054MX Neder-Betuwe

De Wijenburg was an important castle in the duchy of Gelre. The Lords of Echteld had a lot of respect, until lord Otto van Wijhe came into conflict with the duke in 1492. The castle was saved from demolition in the early 20th century by Baron Van Verschuer and restored by Stichting Geldersche Kasteelen.
