Neder-Betuwe - Gelderland - The Netherlands
Cycling route 138991
Provided by: route.nl
With this route you will discover the beautiful Betuwe by means of a large number of sitting arrows. The starting point of your route is a TOP location in Opheusden on the southern bank of the Rhine.
What are those crazy red arrows on the map? Those are sitting arrows. There are 55 of them in the Betuwe, the Bommelerwaard and the Land van Maas en Waal. It is worth getting off here, because while you are enjoying the surroundings, you can listen to a story or poem on your mobile phone about what makes that place so special.
Just before the village of Echteld you can see another beautiful spot: Wijenburg Castle. This historic building has been in the possession of one family for no less than 500 years since 1272: Van Wijhe. The romantic castle is now a popular wedding location.
And of course the Betuwe itself also has a lot to offer. One knows the area mainly from the white-pink blossom, the other is the first to mention the Tiel fruit boss Flipje and some immediately think of nationally known events such as the Fruitcorso or Appelpop. In short: the Betuwe is known as a fruit area and is worth a visit all year round, whether you come for the blossom in spring or at harvest time, when you find stalls with freshly picked fruit along the side of the road. The fruit garden of the Netherlands!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
