Description
The South Limburg hilly landscape has always been very popular with cycling enthusiasts. The green nature, the rippling water of the Meuse and the rolling landscape full of slopes form a perfect cycling backdrop. On this route you cycle along the Julianakanaal.
Special nature
Part of this route runs through the green area around Geulle. This area stretches between Elsloo and Bunde and has a size of 144 hectares. Between Geulle and Elsloo it consists of a marsh area. In many places you can even see the water bubbling up from the ground. This area is mainly known for the special animals that you can spot there, such as the fire salamander and one of the oldest Dutch badger setts is also located here. A fascinating piece of nature, but the rest of the route is also worth it. Enjoy the rolling landscape and the associated views.

Geulle Castle
A little outside Geulle you cycle past Geulle Castle. The current castle is an outer bailey of the former seventeenth-century castle that was demolished in 1847. On the west side there is a gatehouse that you can reach by walking over a classic arched bridge. On the other side of the road there are some gate pillars from the eighteenth century. The interior of the castle dates from 1915. Architect W. Sprenger has redesigned the building, which also has chimneys executed in three fragments.
