Zierikzee, Nieuwerkerk and Noordgouwe

Zierikzee is a monument city and the city has had a protected cityscape since 1971; There are no fewer than 568 monuments. The most famous is the Sint-Lievensmonstertoren, which looks exactly like the Sint-Romboutstoren in Mechelen. In the church ring village of Nieuwerkerk, the nameless flour mill from 1844 stands out radiantly white against the horizon. The mill was preserved after the terrible flood of 1953, but it had problems for a long time due to the salt water that stood in and around the mill. In September 2004, the lower meters of the hull were re-jointed. The pot rod was restored in early 2008. The mill is no longer in operation.
