With this route you will discover the vastness of Northeast Groningen. There is also a lot of cultural history to see, such as ancient churches and two old Groningen castles. The route starts at Lentemaheerd. This overnight address was voted Best VeKaBo guest accommodation in the Netherlands in 2015. Further on is the Menkemaborg. This beautiful deposit has been set up as a museum, so you can visit it! The permanent exhibition gives you a good idea of the life of the Groningen squires in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The route leads you through the Hogeland, an open landscape of grassland, arable land and maars. Under the high skies it is wonderfully quiet. And you can get a breath of fresh air while driving over the winding dikes. In the heart of Loppersum you will find a characteristic atmosphere thanks to the beautiful monumental buildings.
