With this route you will discover the vastness of Northeast Groningen. There is also a lot of cultural history to see, such as centuries-old churches and two old Groningen castles. The route starts at B&B and Camping Lentemaheerd. This overnight address was voted Best VeKaBo accommodation in the Netherlands in 2015. Further on is the Menkemaborg. This beautiful deposit is set up as a museum, so it can be visited! The permanent exhibition gives you a good idea of the life of the Groningen squires in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The route takes you through the Hogeland, an open landscape of grasslands, arable lands and maars. It is wonderfully quiet under the high skies. And you can get a breath of fresh air while driving over the winding dikes. In the heart of Loppersum you will find a characteristic atmosphere thanks to the beautiful monumental buildings.
