Your route starts at De Hazelaarshof. East of Nijmegen you drive through the Ooijpolder, a lowland full of natural beauty and villages worth seeing. In this vast landscape along the Waal you will see authentic mound farms that remind you of the time when dikes offered less security against the rising river water. In Ooij you will pass the centuries-old Reformed Church. Stop for a moment to view the Church of Persingen, a beautiful building that dates back to the Middle Ages. Then you cycle through the wooded hills around Berg en Dal. Near the border with Germany you can get off in the valley near Groesbeek at Wijngaard De Plack, where organic wine is made.
