Water mill De Oliemolen was built in the first half of the 16th century as a fulling mill for fulling wool. Woven woolen fabric was made denser and firmer by felting it. Later the mill was used as an oil mill and eventually it only milled grain. Wheat is still milled on a voluntary basis with water power and the flour products are for sale in the mill shop.
Watermill Oude Molen is a flour mill in Simpelveld. The Old Mill operated until the 1960s. The mill house, the iron water wheel and the water gutter of the original mill are still visible.
Mill Op de Vrouweheide is a former corn mill. This round, stone mill from 1858 fell into ruin and was externally restored in 1958. The ongoing work is no longer present. At 216 meters above sea level, this is the highest wind turbine in the Netherlands. The mill is now inhabited.
Also take a look at the stately Ter Worm Castle, which largely dates from the 17th century. The castle garden is a reconstruction of the French rococo garden that was laid out here in 1787. The garden is public and accessible free of charge: a wonderful place to stretch your legs and rest.
