A tour of special mills in South Limburg. Watermill De Oliemolen was built in the first half of the 16th century as a fulling mill, for fulling wool. Woven woollen cloth was made denser and firmer by felting it. Watermill Oude Molen is a corn mill in Simpelveld. The mill house, the iron water wheel and the water channel of the original mill are still visible. Molen Op de Vrouweheide is a former corn mill. This round, stone belt mill from 1858 fell into ruin and was externally restored in 1958. At 216 metres above NAP, this is the highest windmill in the Netherlands. Also take a look at the stately Kasteel Ter Worm, which largely dates from the 17th century. And take a break at Brasserie Zondheed Ubachsberg along the way!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
