The Reeuwijk lakes and Gouda

Get on the saddle for a ride through Gouda and along the Reeuwijkse Plassen. You will loosen up your legs in the polders under Driebruggen. Then you will cycle a bit along the Hollandse IJssel. You will pass through Haastrecht, a picturesque village. After a while you will cross the river and end up in the historical heart of Gouda. Feel free to get off your bike to enjoy the beautiful monumental buildings at the harbour and on the Markt. Just above Reeuwijk you will cycle through the Reeuwijkse Hout, a damp forest area. The Reeuwijkse Plassen were created in the eighteenth century by peat extraction. The peat was used by Gouda beer brewers, among others. Now you will find a landscape of water, wooden quays and reed beds. The route ends at Café Custwijc.
