The open landscape of Zeeland Flanders

Enjoy cycling along the lapping waters of the Western Scheldt and through a vast polder landscape full of natural beauty. This is possible with this route through Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The first part of this route takes you west along the Western Scheldt. You cycle a bit through the Braakman recreation area. At junction 14 is the Landing Monument to commemorate the landing of a Canadian battalion here on 9 October 1944 during the Battle of the Scheldt. Via Breskens you enter the polder. Enjoy a breath of fresh air and the peace. Biervliet is a picturesque village. Here you will see an old town hall and the Harmonie corn mill from 1842. The Reformed Church dates from 1659 and still contains a number of seventeenth-century stained glass windows. After getting off, you can enjoy a cosy terrace at Taste Churchill .
