Saint Gerlach
Amby is a beautiful old district of Maastricht. You can eat a tasty meal on the cozy terrace of Hof van Huntjens, so that you can drive into the hills with sufficient energy. The Geulhemermolen is one of the many beautiful buildings on your route, it dates from 1768. Further on is the Sint-Gerlachuskerk, the adjoining monastery was converted into a castle in the nineteenth century. Valkenburg Castle is a beautiful ruin, you can climb it for a magnificent view.
Maastricht
At the Geul you will pass Kasteel Schaloen: a fairytale castle. You can also admire an old mill here. It is wonderful to cycle through the hills. One village is more beautiful than the other. In Wijlre you will pass the old windmill of Otten and a small castle. Via Margraten and Sint Geertruid you drive to the Maas. You enter Maastricht along the river bank, passing through the famous Céramique district.
