A castle route in South Limburg! From Groenpark Simpelveld you can quickly cycle to Genhoes Castle. The current castle was built between 1540 and 1560, with three wings and a bailey. The interior is rich in historical elements and in the cellar there is still a real dungeon. The castle is inhabited. The rectangular Schaloen Castle is built of marl and originally dates from the 14th century. In 1894 the castle was thoroughly restored in neo-Gothic style by architect Pierre Cuypers. The Schaloensmolen was a ban mill, where local residents were obliged to have their grain ground. The mill was given its current form in 1700. Ter Worm Castle is part of an old estate. The romantic-looking building originally dates from the fifteenth century, the current complex was built in the seventeenth century.
