Your route starts at Camping het Vossenhol. As you drive between the trees, you immediately notice that you leave the everyday routine behind you. You will soon pass through the Beekhuizerzand, a gently sloping drifting sand area. Especially on sunny days, the dried-out, almost gold-colored sandy landscape seems to be on another planet. You can enjoy the views on the Elspeetse Heide. On the edge of Elspeet you pass some beautiful thatched farms. You will also pass an authentic sheepfold. Staverden Estate is an idyllic spot where you will find a castle and some farms. Get off here to visit De Uddelaer Brewery, highly recommended. At the Ermelosche Heide Visitor Center you can learn more about the heath and the large flock of sheep that graze the heath.

Brewery De Uddelaer started in 2015 as a hobby brewery. From the spring of 2018, the beer will be brewed in the coach house of Kasteel Staverden with a completely new brewing installation. The coach house is furnished as a"brewpub\\\" and has a unique ambiance. Hospitality and quality go hand in hand here. You witness brewing activities here, at the same time you enjoy the results. In addition to six regular Uddelaer specialty beers, there are regularly"one-time brewed\\\" beers on the menu. Brewed according to our own recipe.

This sheepfold just outside Nunspeet is the residence of a flock of sheep that graze the surrounding heathlands. In the evening they are brought from the heath to the sheepfold for the night.

The first castle on this site was built around the year 1300 by Count Reinald I of Gelre. He wanted to develop the estate and the area around it into a city, but that did not work for a long time. In 2012, Staverden was eventually named the smallest city in the Benelux with just over 50 inhabitants. The current castle dates partly from 1853 and partly from 1905. It is built on the foundations of the previous castle from the 18th century. In total there have been four different castles on this place. It is not possible to view the castle from the inside, but the estate itself is freely accessible to stroll over.
