Along the Dintel to Willemstad

The first part of the ride takes you along the water. At Standdaarbuiten you cross the Mark, after which the tour continues along the winding banks of the Dintel. Lovers of the military past can stretch their legs at Fort de Hel, built in 1811 by the French under the name'Fort l\\\'Enfer\\\'. Where Volkerak and Hollandsch Diep meet, picturesque Willemstad with its fortifications on the water is located. From 1583 onwards, Prince Maurits had the former fortress expanded into the seven-pointed star that you can still admire there today. Willemstad became the center of the Defense Line of the Hollandsch Diep and the Volkerak in 1874. The city walls and city center are beautifully preserved. Stop in Fijnaart at De Fendertse Hoeve for a cup of coffee!
