Cycling through Velp and the Veluwezoom

Velp is a picturesque town near the IJssel. The Veluwezoom is the oldest national park in the Netherlands: it was founded in 1930 by Natuurmonumenten.

Herikhuizerveld
One of the most beautiful spots in the Netherlands? That is the almost 90 meter high Posbank, the starting point of your route. You can enjoy a beautiful view here, before you drive a good distance over the Herikhuizerveld. At the edge you will pass a sheepfold, here the Rheden sheep flock lives that moves onto the heath every day. Further on you can get off at the Visitors Center Veluwezoom to learn more about this national park.

Rosedale
At Pannekoekhuis Strijland you can make a pit stop. Enjoy a coffee with something tasty, before you cycle into Rheden. Here you will see, among other things, the charming village church from 1500, the Romanesque tower dates back to 1200. From the cycle path you have beautiful views over the IJssel. In Velp you will see many beautiful buildings. You will pass, among other things, the nineteenth-century Van Lennepsmolen, an overshot watermill. Past the many villas in Rozendaal you cycle back onto the Veluwezoom.
