Description
Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Eenhoorn in Oostburg. Soon after departure you arrive in the old fortified town of Sluis. Nearby you will discover the Belgian nature reserve the Zwin. With 75 hectares, this is not a very large area. But the varying flora and fauna make the area beautiful. Behind a massive row of dunes lies a salt marsh area. Samphire and sea lavender grow in abundance here. Other saltwater plants such as beach nursery, salt marsh and sea beet also do well there. The redshank, avocet and oystercatcher like to brood their eggs there. Retranchement is located in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, on the border with Belgium. Via Cadzand and the nice old Groede you arrive back in Oostburg. Take the time to visit the beach on the coast!
