Tour of Cadzand-Bad, Knokke and Oostburg

Retranchement is located in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, on the border with Belgium. This small village is where you start this cycling route of about sixty kilometers. Soon after departure you arrive in the Belgian nature reserve the Zwin. At 75 hectares, this is not a very large area. But the varying flora and fauna make the area beautiful. Behind a massive row of dunes lies a salt marsh area. Samphire and sea lavender grow in abundance here. Other saltwater plants such as beach nursery, salt marsh and sea beet also do well there. The redshank, avocet and oystercatcher like to brood their eggs there. You arrive in Oostburg via the old fortified town of Sluis.
