Venlo, Baarlo and Kessel: this route takes you through some beautiful towns on the Limburg Maas. You can also enjoy the special nature in the border area with Germany.
Great Heath
At Tuincentrum Leurs you can first have a drink and something to eat before you get on your bike. The seventeenth-century mansion castle Arenborg is the first attraction on your route. Then you cycle along the Groote Heide, where you have beautiful views. Then you dive into the forests along the border. It's so wonderfully quiet here. At junction 99 you pass through Ronkenstein, where you will see some well-preserved eighteenth-century monuments.
Beautiful Baarlo
On the other side of the Maas you drive through the picturesque Kessel. Here are the Church of Our Lady's Nativity from 1460 and the ninth-century Keverberg Castle. You drive along the Maas to the next beautiful village: Baarlo. Here you will see De Borcht Castle, among others. This castle originally dates from 1200, the current moated building was built in the seventeenth century.
