Picturesque roads adorned with cute chapels and crosses. Panoramas over the rolling countryside. And the winding river Gulp and, sometimes pushing, then rippling, finds its way through the area full of half-timbered houses. The village of Slenaken is one of the most picturesque places in the south of our country. You can also pay a visit to Sint-Martens-Voeren in Belgium. You do not suffer from a language barrier, because people speak Belgian Limburgish here. To the northeast lies the Broekbos on a slope. You will not lack greenery during this fun cross-border trip. The Mescher mill is also beautiful. The overshot water mill from 1699 was used as a flour mill and it is the first water mill on the Voer stream. The mill served for centuries and was only shut down in the early 1950s. The mill was no longer needed at that time, because an electric hammer mill was installed in the village. Between 1996 and 1998, the mill was restored and made ready to grind again. The mill can be viewed by appointment.
