Tour of Beek, Didam and Bergherbos

Your route starts at Uitspanning't Peeske. You first drive to Didam. In Roman times there was a Germanic settlement here and many archaeological finds have been made in the region. Coin treasures and other Roman objects have been excavated here. Due to its location close to the German border, a high-ranking SS officer had his headquarters in Didam. You can also enjoy history along the way with a short stop at De Luynhorst. This is a manor from 1340. The building was restored and rebuilt in 1788. The wall work dates from that time. The building was owned by a noble family, which you can see from the surrounding moat, the coat of arms and the pigeon holes in the gable. The Luynhorst is on the National Monuments List because of its historical value.
