The start and end point of this route is at Wijngoed De Reestlandhoeve. From here you cycle through the beautiful forests around Staphorst. You used to find a heathland here, but between 1930 and 1940 forests were planted here as a job creation project for the unemployed during the economic crisis. This created a wonderfully quiet forest that is home to deer, badgers, birds of prey and foxes. On this route you will also cycle past a bell tower from 1823. This bell is still used today to announce church services. Other sights along the way include De Havixhorst castle and the hamlet of De Schiphorst. Be sure to stop at the stork village De Lokkerij! The storks had such a good life in this village that they spread independently across the region around the stork station.

On the border of Drenthe and Overijssel lies the beautiful Reestdal with a sandy and permeable soil. The soil here is full of iron ore, ideal for grape growing. At the Reestlandhoeve they work the land with natural fertilizers and minerals. In the summer months you imagine yourself in France, then classical music sounds through the vineyard. A nice place to take part in during a walking or cycling trip through the beautiful surroundings of IJhorst and Staphorst! Check our website for opening hours.
