Cycling through the floodplains of the Neder-Betuwe

First you cross the Nederrijn by ferry . On the other side you cycle through a mosaic of grassy fields, ditches and of course the many orchards that the Betuwe is known for. You pass through Kesteren and IJzendoorn, in Echteld you can take a look at Kasteel Wijenburg. This was once an important castle in the Duchy of Gelre, the building was saved from demolition at the beginning of the twentieth century and restored to its former glory. You cycle along the leafy road along the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to Rijswijk. On the edge of Maurik you pass De Beijenkorf, a corn mill from 1873. Ingen there is another corn mill: Op Hoop van Beter from 1893.
