A walk through the woods near Bergen op Zoom

Your route starts at Het Strandhuys. In the picturesque center of Bergen op Zoom, you'll see the fourteenth-century Gevangenpoort (Prison Gate). Through a diverse landscape of green suburbs, forests, meadows, and fields, you'll cycle via Halsteren towards Roosendaal. At the edge of the village of Wouw, you'll pass De Arend, a beautiful corn mill dating from 1825. You'll cycle a short distance through the woods of the De Wouwse Plantage estate, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. You'll see beautiful old deciduous trees, as well as Scots pines. On the edge of Huijbergen, you'll pass the Johanna, a corn mill dating from 1862. Gradually, you'll cycle up the Brabantse Wal. After Hoogerheide, you'll enter the woods of the Mattemburgh estate. How peaceful it is here! At Markiezaatsmeer lake, you can visit the De Kraaijenberg visitor center.
