Van Gogh cycle route Helvoirt

Helvoirt has a total of seven Van Gogh Monuments, including the old Protestant church, the Protestant parsonage, and the grave of uncle Johannes. The house of aunts Antje, Doortje and Mietje van Gogh on Oude Rijksweg 34, and the buildings where the friendly family De Jonge van Zwijnsbergen lived, such as Landgoed Marienhof, Kasteel Zwijnsbergen and Villa Jagtlust, are also part of these monuments. Currently, three of these monuments are included along the 21-kilometre Van Gogh cycle route.

Anyone interested in the life and work of Vincent van Gogh cannot ignore Helvoirt. Vincent visited Helvoirt several times, but never lived there himself. On church holidays and birthdays, Vincent visited his parents, two brothers and three sisters, who lived in the rectory of Helvoirt from 1871 to 1875. Elsewhere in the village, several uncles and aunts also lived. Nowhere else have so many members (13) of the Van Gogh family lived as in Helvoirt.
