Van Gogh cycle route Helvoirt

Helvoirt has a total of seven Van Gogh Monuments, including the old reformed church, the reformed parsonage, and uncle Johannes' grave. The house of the aunts Antje, Doortje and Mietje van Gogh on Oude Rijksweg 34, and the buildings where the friendly De Jonge van Zwijnsbergen family lived, such as the Marienhof Estate, Zwijnsbergen Castle and Villa Jagtlust, are also part of these monuments. Three of these monuments are currently included along the 21 kilometer Van Gogh cycle route.

Anyone interested in the life and work of Vincent van Gogh cannot ignore Helvoirt. Vincent has been to Helvoirt several times, but has never lived here himself. On church holidays and birthdays, Vincent came to visit his parents, two brothers and three sisters, who lived in the parsonage of Helvoirt from 1871 to 1875. Some uncles and aunts also lived elsewhere in the village. Nowhere else have so many members (13) of the Van Gogh family lived as in Helvoirt.
