Zaltbommel, Gelderland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 133556
Provided by: route.nl
The starting point of the route is in Zaltbommel. This fortified town is more than 1000 years old and you will find, among other things, a church tower without a spire and the city castle Zaltbommel in the monumental city center. From here you cycle through the Bommelerwaard towards Rossum. Along the way you can admire the wet landscape full of forests, flowery grasslands, bird-rich floodplains, dikes and pumping stations. Just outside Rossum you will pass Fort Sint Andries, which was built in a strategic location on the water. In 1812, this fort replaced the old fort that dated from the time of the Siege of Zaltbommel. After crossing with a ferry, you cycle past Museumgemaal Carners, an information center and museum, at Gewande. Take a break along the way at Cafe Restaurant De Wildse Hut!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
