Description

Your cycling route starts at Stadshotel Ootmarsum. One of the first churches in Twente was built here around 770, and trade in Ootmarsum flourished in the Middle Ages because of its favorable location. The first point of interest on the route is the Eeshof house in Tubbergen. The lower part dates back to the eighteenth century: above the door is the construction date, 1719. Then you pass the Mill of Bels. This overshot water mill was built in 1725 as a corn and paper mill. Today, the mill houses a restaurant and tearoom. The Molen van Frans is also an overshot watermill. Just north of Ootmarsum is the Springendal nature reserve. The area covers about 355 hectares and is known for its springs, streams, hills and burial mounds.
