A day of enjoyment in the Kempen

How wonderfully quiet it is here in the border region! On quiet roads and cycle paths you cycle through a mosaic of streams, fields, grasslands, deciduous and coniferous forests and heathlands. Near junction 216 you come to border post 174. Here is a replica of De Draad, a border barrier of no less than 332 kilometers built by the Germans during WWI along the border between the Netherlands and Belgium. In the Netherlands you come to the Cranendonckse Bos and you pass the place where Cranendonck Castle once stood. You continue along forests and farmlands. In this way you cycle through the forest of the Weerter- and Budelerbergen. Get off for a break at Brasserie't Blaakven! Further on you discover the Laurabossen and the IJzeren Man, two beautiful nature reserves that are part of Grenspark Kempen-Broek.
